Troops eliminate notorious criminal, Abubakar Ango in Plateau

Troops of Operation Enduring Peace have neutralised a suspected notorious criminal, Abubakar Ango, after he allegedly attempted to seize a soldier’s rifle while leading security operatives to his gang’s hideout in Plateau State.
Zagazola Makama, a counter-insurgency and security expert in the Lake Chad region, disclosed this in a post on X on Sunday.
Makama, citing security sources, said that Ango was arrested on November 4 by troops of Sector 2 OPEP at Kukawa village in Wase Local Government Area of the state.
The sources said the suspect, during interrogation at about 7:20 a.m. on November 6, reportedly confessed to involvement in several criminal activities and agreed to lead troops to his gang’s hideout in a village forest.
However, while being escorted to the location, Ango allegedly attempted to snatch the rifle of one of the soldiers, prompting the troops to open fire to neutralise.
He added that further offensive operations were ongoing to apprehend or neutralise other fleeing members of the gang.
