The police also seized four locally fabricated guns, four live cartridges, 10 expended cartridges, a battle axe and a jackknife.

Police spokesperson, SP Bright Edafe, disclosed the arrests in a statement on Friday, November 6, 2026.

According to Edafe, operatives of the Command Anti-Cultism Unit, Sector 3, Ovwian-Aladja, arrested 34-year-old Akpoghene Goodluck on November 4 while patrolling the Agbarho-Warri Expressway.

He said Goodluck attempted to evade the officers, prompting a search of the premises where he was apprehended.

The search reportedly led to the recovery of two locally made guns and 10 expended cartridges.

Further investigations led operatives to another suspect, 50-year-old Solomon Arhugberume James.

Police subsequently searched James’s residence and recovered a pump-action gun and one live cartridge.

Edafe disclosed that both suspects claimed to belong to the Nigeria Hunters and Forest Security outfit but could not produce identification to substantiate their claims.

In a separate operation, officers attached to the Oghara Division arrested 23-year-old Clinton Awuerowswo, popularly known as Clinbaby, on October 23.

The suspect had reportedly been on the run since March 23, 2026, following the discovery of firearms at his residence.

Police said the weapons recovered in connection with the case included a Beretta pistol, two locally made cut-to-size guns, three live cartridges, a battle axe and a jackknife.

During preliminary interrogation, Awuerowswo allegedly admitted ownership of the weapons and membership of the Eiye confraternity.

Edafe said investigations were continuing to establish the circumstances surrounding the possession of the firearms and any possible links to criminal activities.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police in Delta State, Samuel Erale, has warned residents against involvement in cultism and the unlawful possession of firearms.

Erale reaffirmed the command’s determination to intensify operations against criminal groups across the state.

He also urged residents to provide credible information that could assist security agencies in tracking down criminal suspects, assuring informants that their identities would be protected.
