Aliero, who represents Kebbi Central Senatorial District, made the call in a motion on matters of urgent national importance before the Senate.

He said surviving bandits had reportedly moved into communities in Kebbi following intensified military operations in neighbouring states, creating fresh security threats and forcing residents to flee their homes.

The motion listed Jan Dutsi, Agada, Kimba, Alelu, Tanja, Jadadi, Bawanka, Kaba, Zugu, Tafkin Kada and Gehuru among the affected communities.

Aliero said the attacks had exposed residents to intimidation, property destruction and loss of lives, forcing many to seek refuge in the headquarters of Jega, Aliero and Maiyama local government areas.

He also raised concerns over the reported killing of three employees of Hi-Tech, the company handling the Badagry–Sokoto Superhighway project, amid the security crisis.

The senator acknowledged that the Kebbi State Government had provided shelter, food and other assistance to displaced residents but said the scale of the humanitarian crisis required additional federal support.

He urged the Federal Government to provide security agencies with the personnel, equipment and logistical support needed to contain the attacks and restore security to affected communities.

The motion also called on the National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, to assess the needs of displaced residents and provide food, water, temporary shelter, medical supplies and other essential relief materials.

Aliero further urged the federal and state governments to coordinate their security and humanitarian responses and facilitate the safe return of displaced residents once their communities were secure.
