The Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, LASEMA, Dr Olufemi Damilola Oke-Osanyintolu, said the decision followed structural assessments by relevant agencies, which established that the building posed a significant danger to public safety.

He explained that the demolition would be conducted under controlled conditions and in accordance with global best practices to minimise risks and protect lives and property.

Oke-Osanyintolu added that temporary traffic diversions would be implemented on adjoining roads to enable the demolition team to work safely and protect motorists and other road users.

He warned that the exercise could produce noise and dust, urging residents, traders and business owners in the area to remain patient and cooperate with emergency responders and traffic management officials.

The LASEMA permanent secretary advised motorists and other members of the public to stay away from the affected area where possible, take alternative routes and obey safety instructions and diversion signs.

He said LASEMA would work with other relevant state agencies to coordinate safety measures and ensure the operation was carried out smoothly without endangering the public.
