“I just bought her iPhone 15 Pro Max” – Man laments after girlfriend blocks him over ₦40k hair payment

A Nigerian man has recounted how his girlfriend allegedly blocked him after he refused to send her ₦40,000 to pay for her hair.
In a tweet shared on X (formerly Twitter) by @prince_dc21_, he explained that his girlfriend went to make her hair without informing him and only called after she was done, asking him to send money to settle the hairdresser.
According to him, he was surprised by the request because he had not been aware of her plans and had not budgeted for the expense.
He reportedly told her he did not have the money with him at the time, but she reportedly instructed him to ask his friends to send it so she could pay the hairdresser and return home.
“I told her I don’t have. She ended the call.”
The man revealed that he later tried calling her that evening, but her number was not going through. He eventually went to sleep, only to discover the following morning that she had blocked him on WhatsApp.
He expressed his disappointment, noting that he had recently spent heavily on her and had also been supporting her financially.
“This is someone I recently bought an iPhone 15 Pro Max for barely one month ago, and also placed her on a monthly allowance of ₦50k,” he lamented.
His experience has sparked discussions about communication, financial expectations and boundaries in relationships, with some questioning the decision to block him after he declined to provide the money.
