Zamfara First Lady Joins Northern Governors’ Wives For Regional Humanitarian Drive

The First Lady of Zamfara State, Hajiya Hurriya Dauda Lawal, has joined other wives of northern governors in Yola, Adamawa State, for a regional initiative focused on humanitarian assistance, healthcare and women’s empowerment.

The meeting, organised by the Northern Governors’ Wives Forum, brought together First Ladies from several northern states to coordinate interventions for vulnerable women, children and disadvantaged households.

The delegation, led by the Forum’s Chairperson, Hajiya Asma’u Inuwa Yahaya, and hosted by Adamawa State First Lady, Hajiya Lami Fintiri, arrived in Yola on Tuesday, September 15.

As part of the programme, the First Ladies commissioned medical equipment and distributed essential healthcare supplies at the Specialist Hospital, Yola.

They also visited the Adamawa State Government House, where financial grants and food items were distributed to thousands of vulnerable women.

The forum is also expected to provide an opportunity for the First Ladies to share experiences on humanitarian interventions, women’s empowerment and social welfare programmes across the region.

States represented at the gathering include Zamfara, Jigawa, Sokoto, Kebbi, Kaduna, Plateau, Niger, Yobe and Borno.

The Zamfara First Lady’s participation highlights the state’s involvement in the forum’s regional efforts to strengthen support for vulnerable communities and promote women’s economic empowerment.
