White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles has announced that she is free of cancer, six months after revealing her diagnosis.

In a post on X, Wiles said pathology tests “came back clear” following a visit to the Mayo Clinic earlier this week.

The 69-year-old is regarded as one of the most influential figures in the Trump administration and a close ally of US President Donald Trump.

Wiles thanked Trump for his “unwavering support” and said she would continue working to “advance his America First Agenda”.

She continued working virtually from the White House during the six months she underwent treatment after her diagnosis.

In a statement issued in March, Wiles noted that one in eight women are diagnosed with breast cancer.

“Every day, these women continue to raise their families, go to work and serve their communities with strength and determination,” she said. “I now join their ranks.”

Wiles did not provide further details about her treatment in Wednesday’s announcement.

She became the first woman to serve as White House chief of staff, a position widely regarded as one of the most powerful roles in the administration.

As chief of staff, Wiles helps coordinate the president’s agenda, manages access to Trump and serves as a policy coordinator and political adviser.

Before joining the White House, she played a major role in Trump’s successful 2024 presidential campaign.

Her tenure has also attracted controversy. Vanity Fair published interviews with Wiles in December in which she offered candid assessments of her experience in the Trump administration.

Among her remarks, she described Trump as having an “alcoholic’s personality”, while adding that there is “nothing he can’t do. Nothing, zero, nothing.”

She also described Vice-President JD Vance as a “conspiracy theorist” and businessman Elon Musk as an “odd, odd duck.”

Trump subsequently defended Wiles, while she accused Vanity Fair of leaving out “significant context” in a way that created a “chaotic and negative narrative” about the administration.

Trump and the White House have yet to publicly comment on Wiles’ announcement.
