Troops of the Joint Task Force North-West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have neutralised terrorists and intercepted a large cache of ammunition during separate operations in Zamfara and Kaduna states.

The Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force North-West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Lt. Col. Aliyu Danja, disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday.

The operations were conducted on September 2, 2026, as part of efforts to disrupt terrorist activities and the movement of arms across the region.

In Zamfara State, troops of Sector 2, acting on intelligence about the movement of terrorists from the Fakai General Area towards Kwanar Jolof and Tashar Dole in Shinkafi and Zurmi Local Government Areas, ambushed the terrorists at Kwanar Jolof.

The troops engaged the terrorists, neutralising several of them, while others fled.

Items recovered from the area included an RPG launcher, an RPG bomb, an AK-47 rifle, six AK-47 magazines, 106 rounds of ammunition and a motorcycle.

In Kaduna State, troops of Sector 1 intercepted a vehicle at a checkpoint along the Saulawa-Zaria Road.

During a search of the vehicle, one of the passengers attempted to escape after being asked to open his bag. The troops pursued and neutralised the suspect.

A subsequent search of the bag uncovered 793 rounds of ammunition concealed inside gari.

The vehicle and its driver have been taken into military custody for further investigation.

Danja said the operations were part of sustained efforts to dismantle terrorist networks, disrupt the movement of arms and ammunition, and restrict their activities across the Joint Operations Area.
