Tinubu Mourns Former Kogi Governor Ibrahim Idris

President Bola Tinubu has expressed sadness over the death of former Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ibrahim Idris, who died on Sunday at the age of 77.

In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, on Monday, President Tinubu described Idris’ death as a significant loss to Kogi State and Nigeria.

Idris served as Governor of Kogi State from 2003 to 2011, during which his administration recorded interventions in infrastructure, education, healthcare and other critical sectors.

Tinubu said the late former governor devoted a substantial part of his life to public service and contributed to Nigeria’s democratic development through his years of engagement in public affairs.

“Alhaji Ibrahim Idris was a committed public servant whose years in office formed an important chapter in the political and developmental history of Kogi State,” Tinubu said.

The President added that Idris’ death was a painful loss to his family, Kogi State and Nigeria, urging the country to remember his contributions to the development of the state and nation.

“His passing is a painful loss to his family, Kogi State and Nigeria. At this difficult moment, we must remember and honour his contributions to the growth of his state and our nation.”

Tinubu extended his condolences to the Idris family, the Kogi State Government, as well as the late governor’s friends, associates and political colleagues.

He prayed that Almighty Allah would forgive Idris’ shortcomings, accept his good deeds and grant him Aljannah Firdaus.

The President also prayed for strength and fortitude for the family to bear the loss.
