NFL star Aaron Rodgers has opened up about his failed engagement to actress Shailene Woodley, making a shocking claim about what allegedly happened days after he proposed.

Rodgers addressed the relationship during an appearance on the ‘Not Just Football with Cam Heyward’ podcast, where he challenged what he described as false narratives surrounding their breakup.

According to the Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback, Woodley accepted his proposal but allegedly told him shortly afterward that she wanted to be with another man before they could get married.

Recounting the moment, Rodgers said:

“I dated Shailene, propose, and she says yes. Now maybe she felt like she was forced to make a decision. She could have said no. But a couple days after that, she tells me, ‘You know, before we get married, I gotta go f*** this guy.’”

Rodgers claimed Woodley later removed her engagement ring by March 2021, adding that they attempted to reconcile several times but could not make the relationship work. He insisted there was effectively no relationship left by 2022, when their split became public.

The NFL quarterback also pushed back against claims that he ruined Woodley’s life or caused her depression following their breakup.

He argued that the public had been given an inaccurate version of what happened, insisting that Woodley was the one who told him she did not want to be with him and took off the ring.

Woodley previously described the relationship as “not right” but “beautiful” and spoke about experiencing depression and anxiety after a traumatic period, without publicly detailing the circumstances.

Rodgers’ latest comments have now reopened discussion about the former couple’s relationship and the events that led to their broken engagement.
