Rwanda To Host 2027 FIBA AfroCan As 12 African Teams Battle For Title
Kigali, Rwanda, will host the third edition of the FIBA AfroCan from July 2 to 11, 2027, with the tournament set to take place at the BK Arena.

The 2027 FIBA AfroCan will be staged at the BK Arena, one of Africa’s leading indoor sporting venues, marking Rwanda’s first time hosting the continental basketball competition.
The qualification series for the tournament is scheduled to run from September 2026 through June 2027, with 12 national teams expected to secure places in the final competition.
Morocco will arrive in Kigali as the defending champions after winning the 2023 edition in Luanda, Angola.
Rwanda will also be among the teams seeking to challenge for the title after claiming the bronze medal at the last edition.

First staged in 2019, the FIBA AfroCan provides an international platform primarily for African players competing in domestic leagues across the continent.
The competition is designed to showcase home-based African basketball talent while providing players with an opportunity to compete at the continental level.
