PHOTOS: PDP, ADC Members Defect To APC In Ogun

Governor Dapo Abiodun has announced the defection of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) members from across Ogun West Senatorial District to the All Progressives Congress (APC), ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Abiodun made this known in a post on X on Monday, saying the new members had formally declared their decision to join the APC and work with the party ahead of the 2027 polls.

He said the new members were drawn from all the local government areas in Ogun West, describing the development as an expansion of the APC’s strength and reach across the senatorial district.

“We also welcomed the State Legal Adviser of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), who formally joined the APC during the event,” Abiodun said.

The governor said the new members were received alongside the state APC Chairman, Chief Yemi Sanusi; the party’s governorship candidate, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola; his running mate, Alhaja Kudirat Abiodun Adegunwa-Balogun; and other party leaders and stakeholders.

Abiodun said the new entrants were assured that they had become full members of the APC family.

“We reaffirmed that our party remains a broad and inclusive political family where every member is accorded equal rights, respect and the opportunity to contribute meaningfully,” he said.

He added that the party would continue to strengthen its structure and unity across Ogun State ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The development comes after reports that thousands of PDP members, mainly from Ogun West, formally joined the APC at a reception in Ilaro, the headquarters of Yewa South Local Government Area.
