Two allies of Lagos State House of Assembly Speaker Mudashiru Obasa have defected from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) after losing their party tickets for the 2027 House of Assembly election.

The two politicians according to the Nigeria Affairs Journal are Hon. Kola Egunjobi, who is seeking to represent Agege Constituency I, and Azeez Oladapo Yusuf Ninolowo, who is contesting for Agege Constituency II.

Both Egunjobi and Ninolowo had initially emerged as APC candidates for their respective constituencies.

However, following an internal review by the Lagos APC, their tickets were reassigned to Oluwagbenga Abiola for Agege Constituency I and Enimakure Akindele Sakiru for Agege Constituency II.

Following the loss of their APC tickets, Egunjobi and Ninolowo have now moved to the APM, where they are expected to seek the party’s tickets to contest the 2027 election.

Their defection comes amid fresh political manoeuvring ahead of the 2027 elections in Lagos, particularly in Agege, where Speaker Obasa also has a strong political base.

Obasa himself secured the APC ticket to contest the Agege Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives election.

The Speaker had faced a major political crisis earlier in 2025 when he was removed from office by lawmakers, but was later reinstated following intervention by President Bola Tinubu.
