NYSC extends service year of 27 corps members in Osun

The National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, has announced extension of service year for 27 corps members in Osun State in accordance with the scheme’s regulations.

This is as the NYSC disclosed that 31 corps members absconded from their Place of Primary Assignment during the service year.

This revelation was made by the Osun NYSC State Coordinator, Ekene Ita Kubiangha, during the passing out parade for corps members who participated in the 2025 Batch ‘B’ Stream II service year.

Kubiangha, while addressing the corps members during the low-key Passing-Out Parade on Thursday, congratulated them on successfully completing their national service.

He urged them to leverage the knowledge, skills and experiences acquired during their service year as they begin the next phase of their lives.

The NYSC coordinator particularly encouraged the corps members to build on the entrepreneurial skills acquired through the Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development, SAED, programme.

“Such skills were increasingly important in helping young Nigerians navigate the realities of the economy,” he said.

Kubiangha also charged the corps members to remain disciplined, responsible and committed to making meaningful contributions to society after completing their mandatory national service.

He said, “The end of the service year should mark the beginning of greater opportunities, responsibilities and service to humanity.”

As part of activities marking the passing-out parade, the coordinator embarked on a monitoring exercise to Boripe and Ifelodun Local Government Areas in the Ikirun Zone.

Kubiangha reiterated the need for them to sustain the positive values acquired during their service year and apply their experiences to their personal and professional development.

He encouraged the corps members to maintain a strong spiritual life and live purposeful and impactful lives, while also inspecting the corps lodge and assessing their welfare and safety.

The monitoring exercise was conducted alongside a representative of the NYSC Directorate Headquarters Monitoring Team, Oluwakayode Osinubi, and principal officers of the NYSC in Osun State.
