The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to explain how it obtained the EC9E forms of 10 Anambra State candidates published by the commission, alleging that the party neither collected nor submitted the forms.
The party made the demand in a statement signed by Agada Abu Theophilus, ANIPR, Director of New Media and Strategic Communications, NDC.
The NDC alleged that it did not submit the EC9E forms of the 10 candidates to INEC and questioned how the commission obtained the documents when, according to the party, it was responsible for submitting the completed forms of its approved candidates.
“The Nigeria Democratic Congress did not submit the EC9E forms of the 10 published Anambra candidates to the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC,” the statement said.
The party argued that the procedure was straightforward, stating: “The process is simple: the party submits, and INEC approves.”

According to the NDC, it submitted the names of 10 candidates who emerged from its appeal process through the INEC portal, but the commission rejected the candidates approved by the party.
The party further questioned how the credentials of the 10 candidates published by INEC entered the commission’s system when, it claimed, the NDC neither collected nor submitted their completed EC9E forms.
“Since the NDC neither collected nor submitted the completed EC9E forms of the 10 Anambra candidates published by INEC, how did the commission obtain their credentials when it is the party’s legal duty to submit the names of its approved candidates?” it asked.
The NDC subsequently called on INEC to investigate the process through which the candidates’ details allegedly appeared on its portal.
“We call on the Independent National Electoral Commission to conduct an electronic audit trail to determine how these 10 candidates were smuggled into its portal through the backend,” the party said.
The NDC said such an audit would help establish how the disputed candidates’ information entered the commission’s system and clarify responsibility for the development.
