National Assembly Service Commission Staff Protest Over Unpaid

Workers of the National Assembly Service Commission (NASC) have protested at the commission’s headquarters in Abuja, over unpaid allowances and poor welfare conditions.
The protest, organised by the Parliamentary Staff Association of Nigeria (PASAN), NASC chapter, was ongoing as of the time of filing this report on Thursday.
The workers accused the management of the commission, led by its Executive Chairman, Saviour Enyiekere, and other commissioners of neglecting their welfare.
According to the protesting workers, the failure to pay their outstanding allowances has left some workers struggling to meet basic financial obligations, including the payment of their children’s September school fees.
The workers demanded the immediate payment of their outstanding allowances and improved welfare conditions.
They also accused the chairman and commissioners of embarking on frequent travels, while allegedly failing to address the financial difficulties confronting staff.
Some of the placards displayed during the protest read: “Our Saviour is choking us,” “Pay our allowances,” “Senate President, please save National Assembly Service Commission from collapse,” and “Tinubu, your children are hungry in NASC.”
The latest protest comes about a year after NASC workers staged a similar demonstration at the commission’s headquarters in September 2025.
During the 2025 protest, the workers barricaded the commission’s main entrance and complained about worsening economic hardship, hunger and alleged neglect by the management.
They also demanded the payment of welfare-related allowances and improved support for staff amid rising living costs.
The protesters had then displayed placards with inscriptions including “Our Management Failed Us,” “Where is our Saviour?”, “Hunger is Killing Commission Staff,” “Medical for All,” and “Staff are dying of hardship.”
The workers subsequently vowed to sustain the protest until their grievances were addressed.
