Top headlines this Friday morning include reports that President Bola Tinubu may intervene to broker a truce between FCT Minister Nyesom Wike and APC governors while on vacation in France, amid rising tensions ahead of the 2027 elections.
This is as the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps launches a probe into the deaths of suspected illegal miners in its detention facility in Niger State.
Also in politics, the Obi-Kwankwaso Movement unveils a 59-member presidential campaign council.

Wike vs APC govs: Tinubu may broker truce in France
President Bola Tinubu is set to intervene in the growing face-off between All Progressives Congress governors and FCT Minister Nyesom Wike ahead of the 2027 elections.
A senior presidential aide said the intervention is likely to take place abroad before the end of the week, while Tinubu is on vacation in France.
Wike has been promoting his Rainbow Coalition in support of Tinubu but clashed with governors including Hope Uzodimma and AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq. APC South-East leaders and others have rejected his criticisms and warned against any arrangement that could undermine the party.
Probe begins as 40 miners die in NSCDC detention
The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps has commenced an investigation into the deaths of suspected illegal miners arrested during operations in Niger State on September 15 and 16.
The deaths were discovered at an NSCDC facility in Minna, with reports of dozens of fatalities.

South African police recovered the body of a ninth woman east of Johannesburg, as a string of deaths raised concern.
A lockdown and roadblocks were imposed in Kempton Park after recent discoveries, with rewards offered for information.
The Nigerian Consulate-General in Johannesburg issued a safety advisory urging heightened vigilance, particularly for women and girls in affected areas of Ekurhuleni.
2027: Obi-Kwankwaso Movement unveils 59-member presidential campaign council
The Obi-Kwankwaso Movement unveiled a 59-member Presidential Campaign Council with zonal and state coordinators plus directors for mobilisation, women affairs, strategy, security and other key areas ahead of the 2027 elections.
Director-General John Ughulu leads the campaign structure supporting the joint ticket of Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso under the Nigeria Democratic Congress.
