Major General Ibikunle Ajose has officially assumed command of Operation Hadin Kai, taking over as Theatre Commander of the military’s counter-insurgency operation in Northeast Nigeria.
Ajose takes over from Major General Abdulsalam Abubakar, who led the Theatre for 17 months.
During his tenure, the military recorded significant operational successes, including the elimination of a deputy ISIS commander and dozens of insurgents.
Ajose, who becomes the 16th Theatre Commander of Operation Hadin Kai, is expected to build on the gains recorded by his predecessor, strengthen ongoing operations and intensify efforts to restore lasting peace and stability across the Northeast.
The new Theatre Commander is also expected to sustain the military’s offensive against insurgent groups operating in the region while improving ongoing counter-insurgency operations.
