JAMB Approves IBASS Integration, Stronger CBT Monitoring to Improve Registration

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has approved the integration of the Integrated Brochure and Syllabus System (IBASS) into its Pre-Registration App and introduced stricter monitoring measures for Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres as part of efforts to improve registration and examination processes.

The Registrar of JAMB, Segun Aina, disclosed this in a statement via his X handle, on Monday, September 14, following an intensive management retreat held last week.

Aina said the retreat focused on reviewing the board’s operations and taking decisions aimed at “building public trust, easing the difficulties candidates face and improving service delivery.”

One of the key decisions was the integration of IBASS into JAMB’s Pre-Registration App, which will allow candidates to confirm their eligibility, institutions and chosen programmes before visiting registration centres.

The board also approved improved support for candidates residing outside Nigeria, including profiled email services, online payment options and easier access to services currently provided through 55019 and 66019.

On examination rescheduling, Aina said JAMB had strengthened the process for eligible candidates by introducing clearer timelines, improved communication and additional notification channels.

He said the measures were designed to ensure affected candidates receive timely information.

The board also approved tighter accreditation and monitoring requirements for CBT centres.

Under the new measures, CBT centres will be required to provide mandatory remote CCTV viewing, while network testing will be strengthened.

JAMB will also consider accessibility requirements for persons living with disabilities and introduce stricter safeguards against the use of borrowed equipment at examination centres.

Aina said service providers had equally been directed to improve complaint-resolution systems, reduce failed or delayed messages and refund candidates who pay for services that are not delivered.

The retreat also included training for JAMB management and staff on adaptive leadership, innovation, change management and customer-centred service.

According to the registrar, the sessions were aimed at reinforcing “accountability, responsiveness and ownership of every interaction with candidates and stakeholders.”

Aina said the decisions reached during the retreat would move JAMB closer to providing a registration, examination and admission process that is “simpler, safer and more responsive.”
