Immigration Arrests Two Kidnap Suspects, Recovers N34m In Adamawa

The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Adamawa State Command, has arrested two suspected members of a kidnapping syndicate and recovered N34 million in cash from them.

The suspects, identified as 55-year-old Alhaji Jaye and 34-year-old Buba Bello, were arrested on September 6, 2026, following an operation by the command.

During preliminary questioning, the suspects reportedly told immigration officials that the money was intended to pay ransom for the release of Buba Bello’s brother.

The Comptroller-General of the NIS has directed that the suspects and the recovered cash be handed over to the Adamawa State Command of the Nigeria Police Force for further investigation and necessary action.

In a separate operation, the Immigration Service intercepted 17 irregular migrants at Rumde Baru in Yola South Local Government Area.

The migrants were found in a private three-bedroom residence following credible intelligence received by immigration officers.

Preliminary profiling showed that 13 of the migrants were Cameroonian nationals—eight males and five females—while the remaining four were Chadian nationals, all male

The command said the discovery points to a shift in the accommodation pattern of undocumented migrants, with some increasingly moving from conventional facilities such as hotels to private and unregistered apartments.

The Adamawa State Command said it would continue to strengthen migration management, border security and territorial protection, while urging its personnel to remain vigilant and provide timely intelligence to help address emerging security threats.
