NNL: Akwa United ready for new season – Coach Offor

Akwa United head coach, Paul Offor, has expressed optimism ahead of his team’s opening fixture of the season.

Offor said that he is confident in the qualities of players recruited for the season.

Akwa United will trade tackles with Ekiti United in their matchday one fixture at the Uyo Township Stadium in Uyo on Sunday.

Offor, however, explained the need for a positive start from his players in the new campaign.

“We have had a very challenging pre-season; the results helped us find a solution, which we have found with the recruitment of new players,” Offor told the club’s media.

“The results and the solution have prepared us, and it will help us start the season positively.

“The new players are our solution following the challenging results during the pre-season training, which has helped us find a solution to our game.

“Goal scoring is a problem as a whole in the country; some coaches have complained about that in the past. When I build my team, I believe in sharing responsibility of goal scoring among the players.

“This season we have good right backs, good midfielders that can score goals to take the responsibility away from the strikers.”
