Hull City Fined £30,000 Over Homophobic Chanting

Hull City have been fined £30,000 by the Football Association (FA) over discriminatory chanting by supporters during their 4-0 FA Cup defeat by Chelsea in February.
The club has also confirmed that three supporters involved in the incident have been banned from attending matches for a minimum of three years.
The controversial chanting took place during the match at the MKM Stadium, with supporters repeatedly warned through the public address system and messages displayed on stadium screens to stop.
Three people were arrested on suspicion of engaging in homophobic chanting during the game.
The FA subsequently charged Hull City with failing to ensure that its supporters did not use offensive, abusive or insulting language relating to sexual orientation.
Hull accepted the charge, with the governing body confirming the £30,000 fine on Friday.

In a statement, Hull City condemned the behaviour, describing the chant as a recognised homophobic slur and warning that its use could constitute a hate crime.
The club also urged supporters to avoid discriminatory behaviour when Hull travel to Stamford Bridge to face Chelsea in the Premier League on Saturday.
“Discrimination of any kind is wholly unacceptable and will not be tolerated,” the club said.
Hull further warned that supporters engaging in discriminatory chanting could face arrest and criminal charges.
The incident was also condemned by a Hull supporters’ group, which described the chanting as a “stain on our game”.
The club said its decision to ban the three supporters formed part of its efforts to maintain a safe and inclusive environment for everyone attending matches.
