FG shuts down NTI degree programmes over illegal admissions

The Federal Ministry of Education annulled all admissions into NTI’s NCE and degree programmes for the 2026 academic session, declaring that the institute was never authorised to award NCE or university degrees.

In a statement issued on Saturday, November 7,2026, by its Director of Press and Public Relations, Boriowo Folasade, the ministry ordered the Kaduna-based institute to halt all university affiliations and degree-awarding arrangements with immediate effect.

The ministry warned prospective students, parents and the general public against seeking admission, accepting offers, or making payments into the affected programmes, including full-time, part-time and Distance Learning Studies.

It stated that the shutdown was due to violations of the Ministerial Operational Guidelines issued on September 12, 2025, insisting that NCE admissions must comply with JAMB requirements and NCE accreditation standards.

The ministry further directed the National Universities Commission to notify affected universities and enforce compliance.

The government also pledged to protect innocent students already enrolled, particularly those in NCE II-IV Distance Learning Studies.

“The NCE will conduct comprehensive accreditation of existing programmes and study centres across the six geopolitical zones,” the ministry assured. “Eligible students may complete their programmes, subject to accreditation outcomes.”
