Edo LG boss seeks traditional rulers’ support

The Executive Chairman of Ovia South West Local Government Council, Anthony Osarobo, has called for the support of traditional rulers, noting that it is the only way he can succeed in his task to develop the area.

Osarobo stated this at the end of his familiarisation and thank-you visits to traditional rulers in the council on Thursday.

Osarobo, accompanied by members of his executive council, began the tour with a visit to the palace of the Iyase of Udo, Chief Patrick Igbinidu, JP.

He described the visit as a “thank-you visit”, saying it was important to return to Udo, his home community, to appreciate the people following his assumption of office.

He sought the prayers, support and cooperation of the traditional institution and residents to enable his administration succeed.

“I am here with members of my executive council to seek your support as a traditional ruler and community. We also need to prayers and your advice to be able to succeed in this task,” he added.

Responding, Igbinidu welcomed the chairman and urged him to ensure that development programmes were extended to all parts of the council.

The traditional ruler also prayed for Osarobo and wished him a successful tenure.

The entourage later proceeded to Iguobazuwa, the council headquarters, where the chairman was received by the Odionwere and elders of the community.

Osarobo said the visit was to formally introduce his administration to the community and solicit its support and prayers.

The Odionwere of Iguobazuwa, Igbinovia Edward, congratulated Osarobo on his assumption of office and prayed for a successful tenure.

At Usen, the chairman was received by residents and later visited the palace of the traditional ruler, His Royal Highness, Oba Olougbe II.

Osarobo said the visit was part of efforts to strengthen relationship with traditional institutions and appreciate their support for his administration.

The monarch commended the initiative and offered royal blessings for a successful tenure.

The tour is expected to strengthen cooperation between the council, traditional institutions and communities in advancing grassroots development across Ovia South West.
