Dangote Cement To Host London Capital Markets Day Ahead Of Secondary Listing

Dangote Cement Plc will hold a high-level Capital Markets Day in London on September 21, 2026, as the company steps up engagement with international investors ahead of its proposed secondary listing on the London Stock Exchange.
Key Highlights
- Dangote Cement will host investors and capital market stakeholders in London on September 21.
- The event will provide updates on the company’s strategy, operations and business priorities.
- The move is part of preparations for the company’s proposed secondary listing in London.
- Dangote Cement expects the listing to broaden its international shareholder base.
- Nigeria’s upgrade to frontier market status is expected to improve the visibility of Nigerian equities among foreign investors.
- Foreign participation in Nigeria’s equity market stood at 5.6 per cent in July, according to the latest NGX data cited in the report.
Sub-Saharan Africa’s largest cement manufacturer disclosed the planned event to the Nigerian Exchange, where it maintains its primary listing, following approval by its shareholders.
“The CMD will provide investors and other stakeholders with an update on the Company’s strategy, operations and business priorities, as well as an opportunity to engage with the Company’s senior management,” the company said.
The London engagement is expected to strengthen Dangote Cement’s access to international investors and capital markets while providing greater visibility for the company among global investment institutions.
The company had previously announced plans for a secondary listing in London, with the move expected to broaden its shareholder base and reinforce its position as a leading pan-African corporation.

Nigeria’s Frontier Market Upgrade
The London Capital Markets Day will coincide with FTSE Russell’s upgrade of Nigeria from “unclassified” to frontier market status, effective September 21.
Nigeria lost its frontier market classification in 2023 following a prolonged foreign exchange crisis that affected the movement of foreign capital and discouraged some international investors.
The currency crisis also resulted in foreign portfolio investments becoming trapped in Nigeria, contributing to a sharp decline in foreign participation in the domestic equity market.
According to the latest data from the Nigerian Exchange, foreign investors accounted for 5.6 per cent of equity trading in July, while domestic investors accounted for the remaining share.
This represents a significant decline from September 2019, when foreign participation in Nigeria’s equity market stood at 66.8 per cent.
The renewed frontier market classification could improve international visibility for Nigerian equities and potentially support increased foreign investment in companies such as Dangote Cement.
Dangote Cement said it would release the agenda, presentation materials and other relevant information for the London event at an appropriate time.
The company is expected to be quoted under the international commercial companies secondary listing framework if the planned listing proceeds as announced.
