The Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, has threatened to resume its suspended strike should government continue to pay what it called lip service to its demands.
President of ASUU, Chris Piwuna says the union is frustrated by the manner the Federal Government and many state governments have handled the implementation of the December 2025 FGN-ASUU Agreement which he said took over eight months of relentless struggles to achieve.
While the union appreciates the government of President Bola Tinubu for paying four of the seven and a half months withheld salaries by the Buhari administration, Mr. Piwuna said the non payment of the balance of three and a half months is subjecting his members to untold hardship.
Among its areas of concern include unremitted third party deductions, disrespect for university laws and autonomy as well as declining quality of Nigerian academics.
