Abuja Residents Face Planned Power Outage Sunday As TCN

Several parts of Abuja are set to experience a temporary power outage on Sunday, September 6, as the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) carries out scheduled maintenance at the 132kV Apo Transmission Substation.
Key Highlights:
- TCN will carry out maintenance in Abuja on Sunday, September 6.
- The planned outage will run from 9am to 5pm.
- Areas affected include Lugbe, Garki, Area 1, Guzape and Asokoro.
- AEDC will be unable to supply power through the affected transmission lines.
- TCN says power will return once the maintenance is completed.
According to the statement released on Saturday, the maintenance is scheduled to run from 9:00am to 5:00pm and will involve the stringing and latching of optical ground wire on the two 132kV Katampe–Apo Transmission Lines, Lines 1 and 2, between towers T130 and T132.
The TCN said the exercise will affect electricity supply to Lugbe, Garki, Area 1, National Hospital, Guzape, Asokoro and surrounding communities.
The company explained that the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) would be unable to receive electricity from the affected transmission lines for distribution to customers in the areas throughout the maintenance period.

TCN, however, assured residents that the outage would be temporary, stressing that electricity supply would be restored immediately after the maintenance work is completed.
The transmission company also apologised to affected electricity consumers for the inconvenience caused by the planned exercise.
The announcement means residents and businesses in the affected parts of the Federal Capital Territory may need to make alternative arrangements for electricity during the scheduled eight-hour maintenance window on Sunday.
