The Abia State Police Command has arrested a 49-year-old suspected drug dealer and recovered substances suspected to be Cannabis Sativa, “Scottish Loud,” methamphetamine, cocaine and other hard drugs during a raid on a criminal hideout in Isiala Ngwa North Local Government Area.

The command disclosed this in a statement signed by its Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Maureen Chioma Chinaka, on Tuesday.

According to the statement, operatives of the Violent Response Unit and Anti-Cultism Unit, acting on actionable intelligence, raided criminal hideouts at Ahiabubi, Isiala Ngwa North LGA, on September 18.

The operation followed a directive by the Commissioner of Police, Abia State Command, CP Wilfred Olutokunbo Afolabi, as part of efforts to prevent the state from becoming a haven for criminal activities.

The police identified the suspect as Prince Chukwudi Eguzouwa, a resident of Ahiabubi, who it described as a suspected notorious drug dealer in the community.

During the operation, the officers recovered bags containing substances suspected to be Cannabis Sativa, “Scottish Loud,” methamphetamine, cocaine and other hard drugs.

The command said that after the conclusion of investigations, Eguzouwa was arraigned in court on September 22 and subsequently remanded in a correctional facility.

The Commissioner of Police reiterated the command’s commitment to intelligence-driven policing and warned criminal elements against engaging in unlawful activities.

Afolabi said, “Abia State will no longer be a safe haven for criminal activities,” warning offenders to desist from criminal activities or face the full weight of the law.
