Governor of Kogi State, Usman Ododo, has inaugurated a 17-member APC Peace and Conflict Resolution Committee, charging members to reconcile aggrieved party members, restore unity and strengthen the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The committee, headed by former Governor of Kogi State, Captain Idris Wada, was inaugurated in Abuja.
Governor Ododo described the assignment as historic, saying the strength of the APC in Kogi State depends largely on its ability to accommodate diverse interests and resolve internal disagreements through dialogue.

He urged the committee to reach out to aggrieved leaders and members, listen to their concerns and encourage reconciliation in the interest of the party and the state.
The Governor also directed the committee to identify the causes of disputes within the party, resolve outstanding grievances and bring inactive founding members back into the fold.
He said the timing of the assignment was crucial as the party prepares for the 2027 elections, expressing confidence that greater unity would strengthen the APC’s chances at the polls.
Governor Ododo further highlighted the support of the administration of President Bola Tinubu to Kogi State, citing projects including the proposed Kogi International Airport and Ajaokuta Economic City.
He called for continued support for President Tinubu and the Renewed Hope Agenda, saying the state could not afford to fail an administration that had given attention to its development.
Responding, committee chairman, Captain Idris Wada, thanked the Governor for the confidence reposed in the members and pledged to work with all stakeholders to reconcile aggrieved members and strengthen the party.
Also speaking, former Deputy Governor and Second Vice Chairman of the committee, Edward Onoja, assured the Governor that members would strictly follow their terms of reference to achieve meaningful reconciliation and lasting unity.
The committee has three weeks to complete its assignment, including producing a statewide grievance and stakeholder mapping report, a reconciliation action plan and recommendations for resolving internal disputes and strengthening the party’s grassroots structure.
