11 Things To Know About Apple’s Latest iPhones, Foldable Phone

Apple has unveiled its latest iPhone lineup, introducing the iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max and the new iPhone Duo, its first foldable iPhone. The company also highlighted major upgrades in camera technology, performance, battery life and artificial intelligence.

1. Apple has introduced it’s first foldable iPhone

The iPhone Duo is the biggest design departure in the new lineup.

Apple describes it as offering the “largest iPhone display ever”, with a foldable design that is also “posable” and “stand able”. The device is designed around a larger screen experience and new iOS features built specifically for the foldable format.

2. iPhone 18 Pro comes in two versions

The conventional flagship lineup consists of the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max.

Both models feature Apple’s new Pro technologies, while the Pro Max offers the larger display and greater battery capacity.

3. A variable-aperture camera is one of the biggest upgrades

The iPhone 18 Pro introduces a 48MP Fusion Main camera with variable aperture.

Apple says this is the first time it has brought aperture control to the iPhone. The system can adjust the aperture according to lighting and depth-of-field requirements, while users can also manually select from four aperture settings.

The company says the technology is designed to improve low-light photography, group photos and creative photography.

4. The A20 Pro chip powers the Pro models

The iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max are powered by Apple’s A20 Pro chip.

Apple has also introduced a next-generation vapour chamber to improve heat management. The company says the redesigned system provides up to 40 per cent higher sustained performance than the previous generation.

5. Battery life gets a major boost

Apple says the iPhone 18 Pro models deliver its longest iPhone battery life yet.

The Pro Max is rated for up to 45 hours of video playback, while the iPhone 18 Pro offers up to 36 hours on eSIM-only models. Apple also says the Pro can reach 50 per cent charge in about 15 minutes under specified wired-charging conditions.

6. Apple is pushing AI further

The new Pro models run iOS 27 and introduce Siri AI, which Apple says can use personal context, understand what’s on the screen and take actions across apps.

The company says Siri can work with information from messages, emails, photos and other content to provide more personalised assistance.

7. The Dynamic Island has been redesigned

Apple has made the Dynamic Island smaller, while retaining its functionality.

The company says the redesign creates more usable screen space while continuing to support alerts and other interactive features.

8. Four colours are available

The iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max come in:

Black
Silver
Glacier
Burgundy

Burgundy is the new colour introduced with the Pro lineup.

9. Storage goes as high as 2TB

The iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max will be available with:

256GB, 512GB, 1TB and 2TB storage options.

That makes the 2TB version particularly relevant to photographers, videographers and other users who regularly handle large files.

10. When will they go on sale?

For the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max, pre-orders begin September 12, 2026, with availability starting September 18 in the first wave of markets. Apple says additional markets will receive the phones from September 25.

The iPhone Duo will have a later release schedule, with pre-orders beginning October 16 and availability from October 23.
