Suspected Boko Haram terrorists on Monday attacked Zaranga village in Gombi Local Government Area of Adamawa State, leaving 11 people dead.

The terrorists, who reportedly invaded the community while residents were still asleep, opened fire and set houses ablaze during the assault.

The incident has left the community in shock, with several residents reportedly fleeing into nearby bushes and forests for safety.

Speaking to newsmen on the condition of anonymity, a resident of the community said Boko Haram invaded the village in the early hours of Monday, shooting and burning houses.

“For now, 11 dead bodies have been recovered. Many people are still missing. Search teams and security personnel are in the forest searching for the missing people,” he said.

Another resident said that his wife and two other family members were among the dead bodies recovered.

“My wife and two of my family members were also killed during the early morning invasion of my village,” he said.

The attack has further raised concerns over the security situation in parts of Adamawa, especially communities located in areas where terrorist groups have continued to operate.
