Uzodimma Targets $1tn Economy as Imo Expands Health, Digital Projects

Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, has said his administration is aligning investments in the health and digital sectors with the goal of building a $1 trillion economy for the state.

Uzodimma stated this in a post on his X handle on Tuesday, August 11, after inspecting some key projects in Owerri.

The governor said his administration was working to create an enabling environment for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) to expand, generate wealth and provide sustainable livelihoods for residents.

“From the health sector to our digital economic drive, we are aligning our priorities and performance indicators towards the $1 trillion economy that Imo State deserves,” Uzodimma said.

He said SMEs remained a critical part of the state’s economic development strategy because of their capacity to empower residents to earn independently and create wealth.

“We are deliberately creating an enabling environment for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) to flourish – an essential segment of commerce that empowers our people to earn independently, create wealth, and build sustainable livelihoods,” he said.

Uzodimma said his inspection of the Imo Specialist Hospital, Umuguma, Imo Digital City and Computer Village, all in Owerri, gave him further confidence in the objectives behind the projects.

“My inspection of the Imo Specialist Hospital, Umuguma; Imo Digital City, Owerri; and Computer Village, Owerri, further assured me of the strategic objectives behind these projects and their capacity to deliver meaningful value to our people,” the governor said.

He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to improving the state and delivering projects that would have a direct impact on residents.

“Ndi Imo deserves the best, and we will continue to do more,” Uzodimma added.
