US Company Unveils T-Shirt That Can Stay Fresh for 30 Days Without Washing

A United States-based clothing company, HercLeon, has introduced a new T-shirt that it says can remain fresh and odour-free for up to 30 days without washing, even when worn regularly.

The company’s latest product, known as the HercShirt V5.0, is the fifth generation of its innovative T-shirt range and is designed to reduce the need for frequent laundering.

HercLeon, which previously attracted attention for developing self-cleaning underwear, says the new shirt can remain fresh for more than a month under heavy use.

The claim is particularly notable because sweating and body odour typically become more pronounced during hot weather. However, the company says the technology incorporated into the fabric helps tackle the bacteria, moisture and compounds responsible for unpleasant smells.

According to details released by HercLeon, the HercShirt V5.0 contains seven special ingredients woven directly into the fabric. They include copper, silver, zinc, gold, volcanic ash and two undisclosed ingredients.

The company says the materials are integrated into the fibres rather than simply being applied to the surface, allowing the odour-control properties to remain effective for an extended period.

Copper is said to help inhibit bacteria associated with body odour, while zinc helps neutralise sulphur compounds that can be produced through sweating.

Volcanic ash, meanwhile, is used for its ability to absorb moisture and external odours, functioning as a porous material within the fabric.

HercLeon says the combination of these materials allows the HercShirt V5.0 to stay fresh for more than a month, even when subjected to heavy use.

Beyond reducing odour, the company argues that the technology could also extend the lifespan of the garment because it requires considerably less washing than conventional T-shirts.

The company plans to begin shipping the HercShirt V5.0 in early November. It will initially be available only in black, while navy blue, burgundy and dark green versions are expected to be introduced later.

The premium version is priced at $79, according to the company.

For customers looking for cheaper alternatives, HercLeon says a $39 version can remain fresh for up to three days of heavy use, while its standard version can reportedly go for up to 14 days without washing.

The new product is part of a growing trend in the clothing industry toward fabrics designed to control odour, manage moisture and reduce the environmental impact associated with frequent washing.

However, HercLeon’s month-long freshness claim remains the company’s own product claim, and consumers may want to consider factors such as personal hygiene, level of physical activity, weather conditions and individual sweating patterns when deciding how frequently to wash the garment.
