Slovan Bratislava head coach, Yaya Toure, has reacted after becoming the first African to qualify a team for the league phase of the UEFA Champions League.
Toure achieved this feat after his side’s 2-1 win over Celjie in a play-off tie on Wednesday.
The outcome of the encounter meant that Slovan Bratislava won the tie 3-2 on aggregate.
Toure’s side will now be among the 36 teams in Thursday’s Champions League league phase draw.
Reacting, Toure, in a post on Instagram, said he was proud to be an African.
“Proud of my players, staff, the club and our fans,” the former Manchester City and Barcelona midfielder said.
“Proud to be in the Champions League together. Proud to be African. Lots more to do together.”
DAILY POST reports that Yaya Toure was appointed in July on a three-year contract.
