Troops Foil Bandits’ Ambush In Plateau, Recover AK-47 Rifle…

Troops of ‘Operation ENDURING PEACE’ have foiled an ambush by suspected bandits during a follow-up operation in Langtang North Local Government Area of Plateau State, recovering an AK-47 rifle and ammunition from the attackers.

The operation follows the arrest and interrogation of a suspected member of a bandit syndicate, who provided information on the location of a weapon allegedly hidden by the criminal group.
Acting on the intelligence, troops proceeded with the suspect to Nwur Village to recover the concealed weapon.
However, while approaching the suspected hideout, the troops came under attack from other members of the criminal syndicate who reportedly opened fire on the security personnel.

The troops immediately responded, engaging the attackers and forcing them to flee the area.
During the ensuing exchange of gunfire, one of the attackers was neutralised. The arrested suspect was also killed in the crossfire.
Following the encounter, the troops conducted an exploitation of the area and recovered one AK-47 rifle, one AK-47 magazine and two rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, which were reportedly abandoned by the fleeing criminals.
The military said troops have continued with exploitation operations across the area in an effort to track down other members of the bandit syndicate and prevent them from regrouping.
‘Operation ENDURING PEACE’ reaffirmed its commitment to denying criminal elements freedom of action and protecting law-abiding residents across Plateau State.
The latest operation comes amid sustained security operations in the state aimed at disrupting criminal networks and recovering weapons used in attacks on communities and residents.
