Troops of Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), in collaboration with the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) Tactical Team, have dismantled a Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorist camp and neutralised more than 21 terrorists in Adamawa State.
The operation was conducted in the Kopre Mountain general area of Hong Local Government Area following credible intelligence on the activities of the terrorists.
According to a statement issued on Thursday by the Acting Military Information Officer, Headquarters Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI, Captain Mohammed Goni, the joint force launched the offensive in the early hours of August 27, 2026.
Goni said the operation involved newly inducted troops of 226 Battalion, deployed to Sector 4, Adamawa State, following a directive from the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu.
He said the troops navigated the difficult terrain before penetrating the terrorists’ enclave and launching a precision attack on the camp.
The operation, according to the statement, was part of efforts to locate and rescue victims abducted by terrorist elements, including residents of Mussa community abducted in May and schoolchildren kidnapped from Lassa in June 2026.
The troops reportedly engaged the terrorists in two separate encounters, killing more than 21 of them, while several others escaped with gunshot wounds.
“Following fierce engagements, over 21 terrorists were neutralised, while several others escaped with gunshot wounds,” Goni stated.
He said the troops subsequently took control of the area, dismantled the terrorist camp and destroyed its logistics infrastructure, thereby weakening the group’s operational capabilities.
During the exploitation of the camp, the troops also destroyed several motorcycles, bicycles and jerrycans containing Premium Motor Spirit, which were believed to have been used for terrorist logistics and mobility.
The security forces further recovered several AK-47 rifles, magazines and a substantial quantity of 7.62mm Special ammunition from the location.
Goni said the operation demonstrated the ability of the joint force to deploy intelligence-driven tactics in difficult terrain and deny terrorists freedom of movement.
“The successful operation underscores the sustained operational tempo, tactical proficiency, intelligence exploitation capability and combat effectiveness of the joint force,” he said.
He added that the operation was part of the military’s continued efforts to dismantle terrorist strongholds, degrade their logistics and rescue abducted persons across the North-East.
The Military High Command commended the ONSA Tactical Team and OPHK troops for their “gallantry, professionalism, resilience and seamless coordination” during the operation.
The task force assured residents that search and rescue operations would continue until the abducted persons were located and rescued.
“Operation HADIN KAI, remains resolute in sustaining aggressive, intelligence-driven operations aimed at locating and rescuing abducted persons, dismantling terrorist strongholds, degrading their logistics and fighting capabilities, and denying them the freedom to operate,” the statement added.
