2027: Jigawa Speaker Says Residents Must Vote For Tinubu

The Speaker of the Jigawa State House of Assembly has reportedly declared that voting for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election is compulsory for residents of the state.
The declaration has drawn attention amid growing political activities ahead of the 2027 general elections, as political leaders and parties intensify efforts to secure support for their preferred candidates.
The Speaker’s position suggests a strong commitment to mobilising voters in Jigawa State for Tinubu’s re-election bid.
However, the declaration has also raised questions about the freedom of residents to make their own political choices, as voting in Nigeria’s democratic process is a constitutional right exercised by eligible citizens.
Residents are expected to decide which candidates to support based on their individual political preferences when they go to the polls in 2027.
