Transfer: Arsenal sign Habeeb Ogunneye

Arsenal have officially announced the signing of promising London-born Nigerian full-back Habeeb Ogunneye.
The Premier League champions confirmed the signing of the 20-year-old in a statement on their official website, although they did not disclose the duration or financial details of his contract.
Ogunneye’s transfer to Arsenal ended his 15-year stay with Manchester United, where he progressed through the academy system and was first involved with the senior team during an FA Cup fifth-round match against Nottingham Forest in February 2024.
Despite being called up to first-team matchday squads on 10 occasions, the defender departed Old Trafford without making a senior competitive appearance for the Red Devils.
In pursuit of regular first-team football, Ogunneye spent the first half of last season on loan at Newport County, where he played a crucial role in helping the club retain their League Two status.
He netted once in 15 appearances before being recalled by Manchester United.
Ogunneye is expected to begin his Arsenal career with the youth team while also training with the first team, particularly during international breaks when several senior players may be away on international duty.
