Saudi Arabia on High Alert as Iran-Backed Houthis, Iraqi Militias May Launch Coordinated Attacks

New Delhi: Saudi Arabia has raised its security alert amid intelligence warnings of imminent coordinated attacks by Iran-backed Houthi rebels in Yemen and Iraqi militia groups, according to multiple media reports.
The anticipated strikes are expected to target key infrastructure, including ports, airports and strategic facilities, raising fears of a wider regional conflict.
According to reports, Saudi officials have received multiple credible intelligence assessments indicating that Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) is coordinating plans for simultaneous attacks from both the kingdom’s northern and southern borders. The potential assault is expected to involve Iraqi militia factions alongside Yemen’s Houthi rebels.
The warning comes as tensions across the Middle East continue to escalate following recent military confrontations involving Iran, the United States and Israel. Saudi Arabia has reportedly strengthened security around critical oil infrastructure, airports and ports while monitoring developments closely.
The Houthis have significantly intensified operations in recent days, launching large-scale missile and drone attacks against Saudi-backed Yemeni government forces. The assaults, described as the deadliest since the 2022 truce, have heightened concerns that the conflict could spill beyond Yemen’s borders.
Iran has meanwhile warned Gulf states that continued US military action against Tehran could trigger retaliatory strikes on regional infrastructure, including oil facilities, power grids and transport networks.
Tehran has urged countries such as Saudi Arabia and Qatar to press Washington to halt further military operations, while Gulf states have publicly pushed for diplomacy to prevent a broader regional war.
The latest intelligence has heightened fears that a coordinated attack on Saudi Arabia could further destabilise the Gulf, threaten global energy supplies and intensify an already volatile security situation across the Middle East.
