The Governor of Kebbi State Nasir Idris, has expressed appreciation to the Chief of Army Staff and the military hierarchy for deploying additional troops to the state to strengthen ongoing operations against banditry.

Governor Idris spoke on Friday during an inspection visit to the newly deployed troops at their camp in Yauri, where he commended the officers and men for their courage, gallantry and sacrifices in protecting the lives and property of residents.

The Governor described the deployment as timely and strategic, particularly in view of the security challenges confronting communities along the Yauri, Shanga and Ngaski axis, charging them to intensify their operations and decisively go after bandits and other criminal elements terrorising communities.

He said the presence of the additional troops would complement the efforts of other security agencies already operating in the area and boost their morale in the fight against criminal elements.

Governor Idris noted that Yauri, Shanga and Ngaski remain critical security areas, while nearby Fakai Local Government Area shares a boundary with Sokoto State.

He also pointed out that Kebbi has an international border with the Republic of Benin, making effective security coordination particularly important.

The Governor assured the troops that the Kebbi State Government would continue to provide the necessary support and enabling environment for security agencies to operate effectively
