The Adamawa State government has assured members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) deployed to the state of their safety, reaffirming its commitment to providing a secure and conducive environment throughout their service year.

Governor Ahmadu Fintiri, represented by the Chief of Staff, Chief Amos Edgar, gave the assurance during the swearing-in ceremony of the 2026 Batch B Stream II corps members held at the orientation camp.

Edgar said the state government would continue to collaborate with security agencies to guarantee the safety of corps members, stressing that security is a collective responsibility.

“We will continue to work with security agencies to ensure your safety. As we all know, security is everybody’s business,” he said.

He congratulated the newly sworn-in corps members and urged them to see the NYSC scheme as a unique opportunity for personal and national development.

He encouraged them to participate actively in all camp activities and take the Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) programme seriously, noting that white-collar jobs are no longer readily available.

The governor assured the corps members that the state would continue to provide an enabling environment for them and sustain its support for the NYSC.

He added that the state’s monthly ₦30,000 allowance for corps members would continue without interruption.

Governor Fintiri also disclosed that plans to establish a permanent NYSC orientation camp in Adamawa State were at an advanced stage, expressing optimism that subsequent batches of corps members might no longer use the temporary Damare orientation camp.

Earlier, the Adamawa State NYSC Coordinator, Mrs. Osoroh Caroline, disclosed that a total of 1,520 corps members had been registered for the orientation course, comprising 779 males and 741 females.

She urged the corps members to uphold the core values of the scheme, including loyalty, discipline, patriotism, dedication, and respect for constituted authority throughout their service year.

Also speaking, the Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Wali Yakubu, encouraged the corps members to participate fully in all camp activities.

Some of the newly sworn-in corps members expressed delight with their deployment to Adamawa State, describing the environment as more welcoming than they had anticipated.
