Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has called on diaspora investors and business leaders to explore investment opportunities in the state, saying Lagos is ready for “deep, long-term partnerships.”
Sanwo-Olu made the call in a statement via his X handle on Thursday following his participation in the inaugural Africa Business Investment Summit in Washington, D.C.
The governor said the summit provided an opportunity to engage investors, business leaders and policymakers on ways to attract more investments into Lagos and create economic opportunities.
“It was a pleasure to join investors, business leaders and policymakers at the inaugural Africa Business Investment Summit in Washington, D.C., under the patronage of His Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II,” he said.
Sanwo-Olu said he held discussions with diaspora investors and business leaders on practical ways of strengthening partnerships and channeling investments into Lagos.
“I spent time meeting with diaspora investors and business leaders to discuss practical ways we can work together and create real opportunities back home,” the governor stated.
According to him, Lagos, as “Africa’s largest sub-national economy,” offers significant opportunities across several sectors, including infrastructure, technology and finance.
“As Africa’s largest sub-national economy, Lagos is ready for deep, long-term partnerships. The opportunities we are creating across infrastructure, technology, finance and other key sectors are significant and the time to invest is now,” he said.
Sanwo-Olu assured prospective investors that his administration would continue to promote an investment-friendly environment and strengthen partnerships capable of driving economic growth.
He added that the state remained committed to attracting investments that would create jobs and consolidate its position as a leading business destination on the continent.
“We remain open for business and we will continue to build partnerships that create jobs and strengthen our position as Africa’s leading business destination,” the governor said.
