Rescued Woro Kidnap Victims Arrive Ilorin After Months In Captivity

Victims abducted during the deadly attack on Woro community in Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State have arrived in Ilorin following their rescue after spending several months in captivity.

The victims were received late Thursday at the Nigerian Army’s 2 Division, Sobi Barracks, Ilorin, after being transported from neighbouring Niger State, where they regained their freedom following sustained security operations.

The abduction occurred earlier this year when armed bandits invaded Woro community, killing scores of residents and abducting many others, sparking outrage and prompting intensified military and security operations to secure their release.

After arriving at the barracks, the rescued victims were moved to an undisclosed location, where they spent the night as security agencies commenced post-rescue verification and support procedures.

They are expected to be formally received by Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, who has consistently engaged security agencies throughout the rescue efforts.

Authorities described the victims’ return as a major breakthrough in the months-long operation to free those abducted, adding that efforts are ongoing to verify the number of those rescued and provide them with the necessary medical, psychological and humanitarian support.
