Police rescue Sarkin Noman Kano after foiling kidnap attempt

The Kano State Police Command has rescued the Sarkin Noman Kano, Alhaji Yusif Nadabo, after foiling a kidnap attempt in Garun Mallam Local Government Area of the state.
The command confirmed the incident in a statement issued by its spokesperson, CSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, on Saturday.
According to the statement, the attack occurred at about 11:30 pm on August 29, when suspected bandits stormed Garun Mallam town and began shooting into the air.
The gunmen abducted Alhaji Nadabo during the attack, while three residents were shot and injured.
“The injured victims were identified as Yusif Nasiru, 20, Salisu Garba, 20, and Ibrahim Hassan, 20, all from Garun Mallam town,” the statement said.
The police said tactical teams, patrol officers and reinforcements from nearby divisions were immediately deployed after receiving a distress call.
The officers, working with members of the community, pursued the fleeing suspects, forcing them to abandon the kidnapped traditional title holder.
“The bandits abandoned the kidnapped victim and fled the scene,” the police said, adding that Alhaji Nadabo was rescued without injuries.
The rescued victim and the three injured residents were taken to Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital for medical attention.
The command said confidence-building patrols had been intensified in and around Garun Mallam to prevent another attack, while a manhunt had been launched to arrest the fleeing suspects.
The Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, commended the swift response of the police teams and praised residents, vigilante members and the Neighbourhood Watch Corps for supporting the rescue operation.
He also urged residents to remain calm and continue providing useful information that could help security agencies arrest those responsible for the attack.
