Police rescue abducted victim, neutralise two suspects in Ogun

Operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit of the Ogun State Police Command have rescued an abducted truck driver and neutralised two suspected kidnappers.
The operatives also recovered two AK-47 rifles, ammunition and other exhibits during the operation which took place along Papalanto–Ilaro road.
A statement signed by the Deputy spokesperson, Oluborode Opeyemi, on Sunday, said the operation was intelligence-driven and part of ongoing onslaught against kidnapping and other violent crimes in the state.
The police spokesperson noted that the victim, a professional truck driver, was abducted on August 25, 2026, at about 11:10 p.m. in the Ajibawo area of Ibese, Ogun State.
Upon receiving the report, operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit swung into action, traced the kidnappers’ hideout, and engaged the suspects in a gun duel.
During the encounter, two suspected kidnappers were neutralised, while other members of the gang escaped with gunshot injuries.
The statement added that a search of the hideout led to the recovery of two AK-47 rifles, 25 rounds of 5.6mm live ammunition, two mobile phones, and the sum of N2 million suspected to be proceeds of crime.
The statement added that the bodies of the neutralised suspects have been deposited at the morgue for autopsy, while efforts have been intensified to arrest the fleeing members.
The Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni, reiterated the command’s commitment to continue to deploy intelligence-led policing, robust tactical operations and community partnership to protect lives and property.
Ojajuni urged residents to remain security conscious and report persons seen seeking treatment for gunshot injuries or with suspicious injuries.
