The Oyo State Rule of Law Enforcement Authority (OYRLEA) has intensified enforcement of state laws, impounding cattle found grazing openly on a major road in Ibadan and investigating a petition over excessive noise pollution from a block-moulding factory.
The authority said its enforcement team responded to a distress call on Wednesday and found two cows grazing along Kudeti Avenue at Agbarigo Junction, obstructing traffic.
The animals were impounded in line with the Oyo State Anti-Open Rearing and Grazing Law, 2019, restoring free flow of traffic and ensuring the safety of road users.
Following the operation, OYRLEA officials proceeded to Morubo-Ope Community in Apete, Ibadan, to investigate complaints of excessive noise allegedly generated by a block-moulding industry.
The inspection, carried out jointly with the Pollution Monitoring and Control Department of the Oyo State Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources, confirmed that noise from the facility exceeded acceptable levels and constituted a nuisance to residents.
The owner of the business was advised to either relocate the factory to a more suitable location or install effective noise-control measures to reduce the disturbance.
OYRLEA reaffirmed its commitment to enforcing the laws of Oyo State, protecting public health and maintaining environmental standards, while urging residents to continue reporting traffic and environmental violations for prompt intervention.
