The Oyo State Police Command has rescued a 17-year-old boy, Daneri Alhaji Yaro, who was abducted by suspected kidnappers at Aladere Village via Ikoyi-Ile, near the Government Reserve Forest in Oke-Ogun area of the State.

The Command’s spokesperson, Olayinka Ayanlade, said the teenager was abducted in the early hours of August 5, 2026, prompting his father, Alhaji Yaro Babuga, to report the incident at the Ikoyi-Ile Divisional Police Headquarters.

Following the report, the Divisional Police Officer mobilised a joint security team comprising police operatives, Amotekun personnel, local vigilantes and hunters, who launched a search-and-rescue operation in the surrounding bushes and forest.

According to the police, sustained pressure from the security team forced the kidnappers to abandon the victim and flee deeper into the Government Reserve Forest.

The teenager was rescued unhurt and has since been reunited with his family.

The police said intelligence-led operations have been intensified to track down the fleeing suspects, adding that investigations are ongoing.

Commending the joint security team for the successful operation, the Commissioner of Police, Oyo State Command, Olugbenga Abimbola reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to intelligence-led policing and collaboration with other security agencies to tackle violent crime.

He also urged residents to continue providing timely and credible information to support security operations across the state.
