Osimhen still Serie A best finisher since 2020/21

Two seasons after leaving Napoli, Victor Osimhen still has the best goals-per-minute ratio in Serie A over the last six seasons, according to Opta, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.

The Nigerian striker tops the ranking of players to have scored at least 50 goals in the Italian top flight since the 2020/21 season, averaging a goal every 125 minutes.

Osimhen scored 65 Serie A goals in 108 appearances during his four seasons with Napoli, with his most prolific campaign coming in 2022/23.

He scored 26 goals in 32 league appearances that season to finish as Serie A’s top scorer and play a key role in Napoli’s title-winning campaign, which ended their 33-year wait for the Scudetto.

Osimhen’s relationship with the Napoli hierarchy subsequently deteriorated, leading to his loan move to Galatasaray in the summer of 2024. He eventually joined the Turkish giants permanently in 2025 in a deal reportedly worth €75m.

Inter Milan captain Lautaro Martinez ranks second on the list, with a goal every 133 minutes. The Argentine has scored 132 Serie A goals in 267 appearances across eight seasons with the Nerazzurri.

Dusan Vlahovic and Ciro Immobile share third place with a goal every 146 minutes.

Vlahovic spent eight seasons in Serie A before leaving Italy for Besiktas this summer, having represented Fiorentina and Juventus.

Immobile, meanwhile, has been a Serie A regular since the 2008/09 season, turning out for Juventus, Genoa, Torino, Lazio and Bologna. The 36-year-old has scored 174 goals in the competition but averages a goal every 146 minutes.

Romelu Lukaku completes the top five with a goal every 163 minutes. The Belgian striker had spells with Inter Milan and Roma before joining Napoli, where he spent two seasons alongside Osimhen’s former club.

Lukaku subsequently moved to Turkey, where he now plays in the same league as Osimhen.

Osimhen’s ranking underlines the efficiency of the 27-year-old during his four-year spell in Italy, where his goalscoring rate surpassed that of several of Serie A’s most prolific forwards of the period.
