The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has announced the deployment of a dedicated Passport Intervention Team to the United Kingdom to ease and streamline passport services for Nigerians living in the country.

The intervention, directed by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, will see the team arrive in the UK on Monday, August 10, 2026, where it will work with the Nigerian High Commission to process pending, new and passport renewal applications.

  1. According to the NIS, the team will visit designated cities across the UK to conduct passport enrolment and processing, allowing eligible applicants in different parts of the country to access the exercise.

The intervention is open to applicants with pending passport applications, new applicants, as well as holders of passports with less than one year remaining before expiry who wish to renew them.

Applicants are required to present their completed application forms and proof of payment during enrolment.

The Immigration Service said details of the designated cities, dates, venues and enrolment times would be announced separately, advising applicants not to proceed to any location until the official schedule is released.

It also urged Nigerians in the UK to monitor the official communication channels of the Nigerian High Commission for further information.

For enquiries or complaints, applicants can contact [email protected] or the NIS WhatsApp-only line on +234 916 087 8000.

The NIS clarified that all its digital passport application channels, including the Contactless Passport Application System, would remain fully operational throughout the intervention.

Home delivery services would also remain available.

The Service said the initiative was part of its commitment to providing efficient, transparent and responsive passport services to Nigerians at home and in the diaspora.
