Nigerian Army, Abia Police to deploy intelligence gathering in securing communities

The Commander, 14 Brigade, Nigerian Army, Ohafia, Brigadier General Ahmad Mansur Dikko and the new Commissioner of Police in Abia State, CP Wilfred Afolabi, have held a meeting at the brigade’s headquarters in Ohafia, aimed at securing every part of Abia State.
The meeting, which was held during the familiarisation visit by the new Commissioner of Police in Abia, centred on intelligence gathering and sharing among the Army, the Police and other security agencies.
Explaining the reason for the visit, the Commissioner of Police, CP Wilfred Afolabi intimated the Brigade Commander on his vision and areas of priority for the State Police Command, particularly issues concerning peace and security.
He identified intelligence gathering and sharing, community safety outreach and enhanced police visibility as key strategies to tackle criminality across the state.
The Commissioner emphasised the importance of effective intelligence gathering and information sharing among security agencies as vital components of preventing crime and addressing emerging security challenges.
He noted that stronger cooperation between the Police, the Nigerian Army and other relevant stakeholders would contribute significantly to maintaining peace and security across the state.
CP Afolabi also highlighted the importance of community safety outreach, stressing the need for the Police to maintain closer engagement with members of the public.
Responding, Dikko expressed his readiness to support initiatives aimed at strengthening security and peaceful coexistence in Abia State.
Brigadier General Dikko assured the Commissioner of the brigade’s continued support and cooperation, stressing that a coordinated approach among security agencies remains essential to effectively addressing security challenges and protecting lives and property.
